The app

What is Match Ready: Football?

A strength and conditioning app for amateur footballers. It plans your gym, home, speed and fitness sessions around your club training nights and match days, by position, and adjusts each session from a quick morning check-in.

When is it available?

It’s coming soon to the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android).

Who is it for?

Players aged 13 and over in Saturday and Sunday league, grassroots and non-league football, men and women. It suits anyone with one or two club nights and a weekend game.

Can under-18s use it?

Yes, with parental consent. Players aged 13 to 15 need a linked parent to give consent before the plan starts. Players aged 16 and 17 have their own account and a parent is invited and told it exists. Under-18s get high-privacy defaults, no max testing, no leaderboards and a weekly hours cap. Under-13s can’t sign up.

I play women’s football. Is it for me?

Yes. Women follow the same programmes and loads, with the knee-control parts of the warm-up at full dose every time and an optional private cycle log that’s off by default. The app doesn’t change training by cycle phase, because the evidence doesn’t support it.

I’m over 35. Does it account for that?

Yes. The 35+ setting adds an extra day before heavy legs after a double-header unless your check-in is green, calf strength twice a week, the full hamstring dose and a chest-pain card.

Do I need a gym?

No. There’s a full no-gym pathway using bodyweight, bands and a backpack. Strength rises more slowly without heavy weights and the app tells you that plainly.

How long are the sessions?

You choose 45, 60 or 75 minutes. Short on time? Extras go first; the main lift, Nordics and Copenhagens are never cut on their scheduled day.

Training

How does it fit around my club training?

You enter your club nights and match days once, or join your team’s shared fixture list. They’re treated as fixed. The app places its own sessions around them, never heavy legs the day before or after a game, and adds only what your week is missing.

I play Saturday and Sunday. Can it cope?

Yes. A double-header weekend counts as one match block, with heavy legs back on Tuesday at the earliest. Midweek cup games switch that week to one short in-between session.

Does it include drills with the ball?

No. Ball work and heading stay with your club coach. The app never programmes heading practice.

What warm-up does it use?

Our own warm-up built on the same parts and dose as the FIFA 11+: running drills, strength, jumps and balance at three levels, then faster running. In studies, teams that regularly did the FIFA 11+ had fewer injuries. It isn’t FIFA’s official programme; the app links to it.

Do I have to connect a watch?

No. Apple Health or Health Connect is optional and off by default. If you connect, HRV and resting heart rate add one extra input to the check-in and watch GPS describes your match running.

Will it predict if I’m going to get injured?

No. Nobody can do that reliably, and the app shows no risk scores or load ratios.

Health and safety

Is this medical advice?

No. Match Ready: Football gives training guidance. If you have pain, a medical condition or a head injury, speak to a doctor, physio or NHS 111. In an emergency call 999.

What does the head injury feature do?

Press “Possible head injury” and training locks. You’ll see 999 and NHS 111 guidance, then a day-by-day return following the UK grassroots guidance, with daily symptom checks: full training not before day 15, matches not before day 21. It never says you’re fit to play; that’s for a healthcare professional and your club. It’s always free.

What if something hurts during a session?

Tap “Something hurts” and rate it 0–10. Mild pain that settles by the next morning means carry on. Moderate pain swaps the exercise and halves that area’s work. 6 or more, swelling, a limp or any red flag stops that area and points you to a physio or doctor.

I’ve had a hamstring or groin injury. Can I use it?

Yes. The app records your physio’s stage and builds running back gradually from it, and moves you to the full hamstring dose. It doesn’t replace your physio.

Account, privacy and billing

How much does it cost?

Match Ready Pro is £12.99 a month or £79.99 a year. The yearly plan starts with a 14-day free trial; monthly has no trial. Safety tools are always free.

How do I cancel?

In your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, at least 24 hours before renewal. You keep access until the end of the paid period.

Where is my data stored?

With Supabase in London. Health data is only processed with your explicit consent, and Apple Health or Health Connect data is never used for advertising and never sold.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile and tap “Delete account and data”, or email us from your account email. See the delete your account page.
